We woke up this morning and the Western group was already gone. We packed and got ready and headed downstairs for 6:30am. We met up with the Algonquin group as we were taking the same bus to the airport which was nice because our two groups have combined into one big family this past week. When we got to the airport, we had time to sit down and grab a bite to eat all together. Once it was time to board, we said goodbye and headed to our separate terminals. This was a super difficult moment for me as the people that we had to say goodbye to had become very good friends over the past week. We just boarded the plane and the take-off was smooth. My tattoo feels good and I can’t wait to go home and show my family and friends. I can’t wait to tell them all about my trip but most of all; I absolutely cannot wait to go back. I have learned so much about myself this week and I hope I never lose the feelings that this trip gave me.
I could not be more thankful for the people from my Windsor team. They really jumped right in with this whole experience and I could not be more proud of every one of them. They all have such big hearts and made such strong connections with the children of Monte Cristi. I also could not be more thankful for meeting such an amazing group of volunteers from Algonquin. They accepted our small group into theirs and their support and encouragement was overwhelming. Highlight of my day today: saying good bye to all the volunteers. I cried because it was over but I couldn’t help but smile because it happened :)
